Why Dental Implants?

Dental implants are one of the best solutions to missing teeth because they replace a tooth from root to crown. Implant treatment consists of four segments: consultation, placement, healing, and restoration. The implant itself is comprised of three components: the post, the abutment, and the restoration. The post is surgically placed into the jawbone to replace the tooth root that has been lost. Having this artificial root keeps the jawbone healthy, as the implant consistently encourages healthy hard tissue growth.

The abutment is what connects the restoration to the implant post. Since the prosthetic gains its support directly from the jawbone, there is no chance of it moving out of place. Obtaining Dental Implants at Dental Center of Mesa

Patients wishing to obtain dental implants must first undergo a thorough examination by Dr. Kalika. This is where he analyzes your smile to determine if you meet the requirements needed to continue with implant treatment. For those who do not meet the necessary criteria, they may receive preoperative procedures to get their oral health up to par. The oral health necessities to obtain dental implants are adequate bone density, no signs of dental infection, and gingival tissues must be in good condition.

If it is decided that you are a candidate for dental implants, 3D scans are taken. This is to help plan for optimal placement of your implant posts and show you why and where these restorations are necessary.

To ensure our patients comfort during the surgery, we provide IV sedation to help them relax. The number of implant posts inserted depends on the number of missing teeth.  For patients in need of an entire arch, they typically will receive four mini implants or two traditional implants to securely hold their restoration. Once the procedure is complete, we provide PRP (platelet-rich plasma) to expedite the recovery process.

Once the tissues surrounding the dental implant have healed, we affix the prosthetic. Restorations provided by our Mesa dental practice are aesthetically pleasing and durable. For patients wanting to receive their permanent tooth replacement right away, we utilize CEREC technology.
